6th June 1944 saw the allied landings in Normandy : after parachute drops before dawn, this stretch of coastline saw the arrival of hosts of ships, l anding craft, tanks, soldiers,...
Barack Obama, Nicolas Sarkozy, Prince Charles and other world leaders and their representatives will be at the American Cemetery paying hommage to those allies who contributed to the liberation of Europe and the end of the Second World War.
Interest in this historical feat has never waned, and still today Sainte Mère Eglise, Omaha Beach, the artificial port of Arromanches, defensive bunkers, museums large and small all bear testimony to the events that took place.
